Robert J. Seebacher, Music Director/Conductor
Orland Thomas, Conductor Emeritus
The Mobile Symphony Youth Orchestra is comprised of middle school, high
school, and early collegiate students through the age of 21. Its members reside
across the Gulf Coast region. Auditions are held in late August each year.
Inquires about eligibility or participation in the orchestra may be directed to
Robert Seebacher at 251-432-2010.
The mission of the Mobile Symphony Youth Orchestra is to offer young
instrumental musicians in the Gulf Coast community an opportunity for growth
and development through learning various styles of musical literature in a full
symphonic orchestra setting. The Mobile
Symphony Youth Orchestra provides string, brass, wind and percussion students
with instruction and experience as they learn the orchestral repertoire and improve
their reading and playing skills. As
they work with other young artists, as well as highly skilled, professional,
guest soloists, they not only develop their individual musical skills and enjoy
social interaction with other young, talented individuals, but also learn that
participation in a group endeavor offers an experience far greater than one
might achieve individually.
