Mobile Symphony offers violin and cello instruction in participating elementary schools.
3rd, 4th, and 5th graders learn to play string instruments in weekly
classes held during the school day. The participating
schools in the Strings program include Mary B. Austin , Council Traditional, E.R. Dickson, Dodge Elementary , Fairhope Elementary, Christ the King School , O'Rourke , Rockwell, Spanish Fort , Westlawn.

Mobile Symphony invites you to participate in
Strings Class
in your own school!
You
will have the opportunity to learn to read music and play the violin or cello during the school day in your own school. Your
instructor will be a professional musician from the Mobile
Symphony.
* When do we start? Two weeks after school starts in the fall.
* How many lessons are there? 25 lessons in the school year.
* How long is a lesson? 45 minutes.

Do I need to have my own instrument? Yes, you may buy or rent an
instrument. Violins are available at: Andy's Music 633-8944,
and Jubilee Music 928-1003.

How much does Strings Class cost? Introductory Class (year
1): $200 per year, Intermediate Class (year 2): $250 per
year, Advanced Class (year 3): $300 per year.

Are there other costs? In addition to an instrument, you will
need to purchase an instruction book, extra strings, and a music stand.
* What else will I need to do? You must encourage your student to practice at least 15 minutes every day.
