Who Dat going
to the Symphony!
MSO offers
special discounts to Saints fans for upcoming concert
The Mobile Symphony Orchestra (MSO) is celebrating the Saints' amazing Super
Bowl victory by offering a 20 percent discount on tickets to its Feb. 27 &
28 concerts of popular French classical music at the Saenger Theatre in
downtown Mobile.
The
"French Connection" concerts were already being promoted with posters, ads and
postcards featuring French landmarks and a large fleur de lis. When the NFL
created an uproar by claiming ownership of both the fleur de lis and the "Who
Dat!" cheer, the MSO clearly sided with the fans. After Sunday's Saints'
victory, MSO quickly pasted Saints' logos over the existing fleur de lis
emblems on concert posters.
Here's
the deal: Saints fans can bring any fleur de lis image to the box office to
receive a 20% discount on tickets to the February concerts. "It's a great deal
on great music," Greg Gordon, COO of the MSO explained. "Fans simply
need to show any fleur de lis image - t-shirt, jersey, bumper sticker, internet
download, anything to show their support for the Saints - to receive the
discount.
"The
MSO is clearly part of the Who Dat Nation," Gordon said. "We're a regional
orchestra with musicians from all along the Gulf Coast - many of whom are
devoted Saints fans."
French Connection is a
musical tour of France and features such popular French compositions as Ravel's
"Bolero" and Debussy's "Afternoon of a Faun." Performances are Feb. 27
at 8 p.m. and a Sunday matinee performance on Feb. 28 at 2:30 p.m.
Individual
tickets are $15-$55 (before the discount) and can be purchased online at
www.mobilesymphony.org, by phone at 251-432-7080, or at the symphony box
office, 257 Dauphin Street. Students, K-12, are free for Sunday matinee
performances when accompanied by a paying adult through the Big Red Ticket
program. All concerts are at the Saenger Theatre, 6 South Joachim St., in
downtown Mobile. For more information visit the symphony Web site at
