MSO appoints new officers and board members

The Mobile Symphony Orchestra Board of Directors appointed new officers and approved three new board members during the last board meeting of the MSO’s fiscal year June 19, 2012.

Chairing the MSO Board for a two-year term beginning July 1 will be Jimmie Hatcher. Hatcher has served on the MSO Board since 2009, and most recently served as Chair-Elect and Vice Chair of Development. Karen Outlaw Atchison will serve as secretary, and John Klotz will serve as treasurer.

Incoming Board members are Owen Bailey, administrator, USA Children’s and Women’s Hospital, Robert McGinley, Jr., attorney, McDowell, Knight, Roedder & Sledge, LLC, and Dr. Phyllis French, director of education, Gulf Coast Exploreum. Their term begins July 1 and will run for 3 years.

The MSO Board also thanked outgoing Board Chair Dr. Bree Hayes, and retiring Board members Julie Marks and Ramona Marsalis Hill for their years of service to the Mobile Symphony.

The Mobile Symphony has been a regional orchestra for the central Gulf Coast since 1996. Scott Speck serves as music director. In addition to offering a full season of classical and pops concerts, the orchestra serves the area with a wide range of educational and outreach programs including student performances, a string academy, a youth orchestra and a community string orchestra for all ages.
