Harpist Katie Ott to perform with Mobile Symphony Youth Orchestra Nov. 4
The Mobile Symphony Youth Orchestra will present the first concert of the season, A Winter Festival, on Sunday, Nov. 4 at 2 p.m. in the Saenger Theatre. Guest soloist performing with the Youth Orchestra will be Katie Ott, principal harpist with the Mobile Symphony Orchestra. The concert will include Ott performing “Angel’s Harp” by David Ott.
The Youth Orchestra, led by music director Robert J. Seebacher, will also perform works by Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov and Beethoven.
The Mobile Symphony Youth Orchestra is a full symphony orchestra comprised of middle school, high school and early collegiate students through age 21. Its members reside throughout south Alabama and the Gulf Coast region.
“We are very excited about our season,” Seebacher said. “We have a 98% retention rate, so most of the members of the youth orchestra are returning for their second, third and even fourth years. They have been working very hard, so I’m expecting wonderful things for this first concert. And of course, Katie Ott is a beautiful harpist and the orchestra is very excited about performing with her.”
A suggested donation of $5 per person will be accepted at the door. For more information, call the Mobile Symphony at 251-432-2010.
