The Mobile Symphony Youth Orchestra will present its third concert of the season—Musical Journeys—on Sunday, March 3 at 2 p.m. in the Saenger Theatre.
The Youth Orchestra, led by music director Robert J. Seebacher, will perform works by Wagner, Nielsen and Tchaikovsky. Nicole Carrion, a senior at Baker High School and winner of the 2012-2013 MSYO Concerto Competition, will perform Jacques Ibert’s Flute Concert.
The program includes Carl Nielsen’s March and African Dance from “Aladdin”, Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 2 “Little Russian”, and Wagner ‘s Elsa’s Procession to the Cathedral from “Lohengrin”.
“This concert is the first of two concerts that together will mark a first for the MSYO–the performance of a full length symphony,” Seebacher said. “The March concert will include the First and Fourth movements of Tchaikovsky’s Second Symphony. The finale concert on May 9 will include the entire symphony.”
The Mobile Symphony Youth Orchestra is a full symphony orchestra comprised of middle school, high school and early collegiate students through age 21. Its members reside throughout south Alabama and the Gulf Coast region.
A suggested donation of $5 per person will be accepted at the door. For more information, call the Mobile Symphony at 251-432-2010.
