Violinist Jenny Gregoire was appointed concertmaster of the Mobile Symphony in August 2001 and in 2006 was offered the same position with the Gulf Coast and the Meridian Symphonies. Born in Quebec, Canada, Jenny studied at the Quebec Music Conservatoire with Jean Angers and Liliane Garnier-Le Sage, where she earned both undergraduate and graduate degrees in violin performance and a minor in chamber music.
Upon leaving Quebec, Ms. Gregoire moved to Chicago to attend Northwestern University, where she would obtain a Master's degree in Violin Performance and Pedagogy with Dr. Myron Kartman. While at Northwestern, Jenny played with University Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Victor Yampolsky and held the concertmaster position for both years of study. She was also a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and worked with conductors Cliff Colnot, Mstislav Rostropovitch, Pierre Boulez, and Daniel Barenboim. In September 2000, she won a fellowship position with the New World Symphony under the direction of Michael Tilson Thomas.
Jenny Gregoire is an adjunct violin instructor at the University of Alabama and an instructor at the Community Music School. She regularly plays with the Alabama Symphony, the Tuscaloosa Symphony, and the Pensacola Symphony. During the summer, Ms. Gregoire teaches and performs at the Eastern Music Festival in Greensboro, NC. |
