Bassist Nestor Zayas is currently studying at Florida State University College of Music, where he is working on a Doctorate of Music in Double bass performance. He has a Master’s degree in Music Performance from the University of Georgia, and he received his Bachelor of Music Education in 2002 from the Conservatorio Nacional de Musica, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
He has studied Bass with Jacinto Roque, Milton Masciadri, Thomas Martin, F. Petracci and Melanie Punter.
In addition to the Mobile Symphony Mr. Zayas has performed with the Festival Orquesta Nacional, Dominican Republic, Albany Symphony Orchestra, Albany GA, Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra, Pensacola Symphony Orchestra, Gainesville Symphony, Macon Symphony Orchestra, UGA Symphony Orchestra, UGA Wind Symphony, and the UGA Jazz Ensemble.
He also teaches stringed instruments, does string instrument repair and teaches Spanish at West Florida High School.
