Double Bassist John Palensky divides his time and talents between the Mobile
Symphony Orchestra and Mobile Opera Orchestra, the Gulf Coast Symphony
Orchestra, the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra and Pensacola Opera Orchestra,
various chamber ensembles, and an active jazz career throughout the Gulf
Coast.
Palensky has performed with orchestras in Mexico, Texas, Arizona, Arkansas,
Iowa, and Nebraska. He has traveled to Brazil and Portugal as a jazz
ambassador. He maintains a studio in Mobile and gives clinics and workshops
on double bass performance and pedagogy for young bassists in the Gulf Coast
region. He is active in bringing jazz music to elementary school children.
Palensky's wife Jeanne Gillespie and his three spunky children also pursue
musical interests. |
