Dr. Guo-Sheng Huang is the accomplished principal cello of both the Gulf Coast Symphony in Biloxi, Mississippi, and the Sinfonia Gulf Coast in Destin, Florida. He is also a member of the Mobile Symphony Orchestra and a member of the faculty at the University of South Alabama. He is also the cellist of the Horizon String Quartet.
Guo-Sheng was born to a musical family in Taichung, Taiwan. He began with piano lessons in early childhood. At the age of nine, he discovered his passion and talent with the cello.
Huang earned his Bachelor of Music degree in cello performance from the National Sun Yet-Sen University in Kaoshiung, Taiwan. His Master of Music degree was conferred from the Ohio State University, and a Doctorate Degree of Musical Art from the University of South Carolina. He received full scholarships during his college and graduate studies. He has given recitals in the Far East and across the States. |
